City SC South Bay In The Community

As a large South Bay based soccer club, we realize the importance of fundraising for community causes and the massive, sometimes life changing, impact our collective efforts can have. Firstly, and foremost, we are a soccer club and our mission is to teach this wonderful game to your children but we feel very strongly, as a club, that we have an obligation to give back to the local community.

Current Community Projects/Fundraising Efforts

The Jeff Goodrich Parents’ Soccer Classic is a soccer tournament for parents of children attending Manhattan and Hermosa Beach School District Schools and other local supporters of the MBX Foundation as well as supporters of the Goodrich family. Jeff Goodrich was the founder of this tournament, a Manhattan Beach police officer, and an upstanding member of the community who sadly passed away several years ago. The majority of the proceeds (after expenses) go to the MBX Foundation in support of athletic and sports programs in local school districts, with a portion of the proceeds to be designated to a charity chosen by the Goodrich family. Proceeds from the tournament benefit all local PE programs and Costa Boys and Girls Soccer Programs.

Tour De Pier Is a unique cancer fundraiser that brings indoor stationary cycling to the gorgeous outdoors. Hundreds of spin bikes ride in place with an ocean view overlooking the Manhattan Beach Pier. The South Bay’s best instructors, entertainers, and celebrity guests lead a morning of 5 one-hour spin sessions loaded with energy, excitement, and emotion! Sponsorship ensures that 100% of participant-raised funds go to patient support services and cancer research.

Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair is a free, volunteer-run community tradition since 1972. Every donation helps keep the fair free and accessible to everyone. Contributions go directly toward covering event costs like permits, equipment, and safety measures—so the fair can continue to thrive. Proceeds are reinvested back into Manhattan Beach through scholarships, school programs, and local nonprofits that benefit our youth and community organizations.

Hermosa Beach School Program We partnered with Hermosa Beach Schools to host the inaugural Coastal Classic Blood Drive on August 18 and 19 at Poinsettia Park in conjunction with the Coastal Classic Girls tournament. Over the course of the weekend, 47 people donated blood, the majority being club members, and 25 of those being first time blood donors. Since our drive August 18 & 19, these donations have already touched the lives of 144 people!
